MARCH  2020

Celebrating 25 Years

This year, we’re celebrating 25 years of caring; as a community partner, a reliable employer, and a trusted resource for both members and providers. Our longevity shows how we’ve been able to adapt to change. Our mission has always been the same: to partner with communities through access to quality, affordable care. Everything we’ve done over the years has been done with the vision to see healthy communities transformed by the care that people want at a cost we can all afford.

Be on the lookout for more about information about our 25th anniversary and how you can join us in celebrating.

NEED TO KNOW

Continuously Reaching Members Where They Are
An ongoing initiative that we want you to know about is our member email program. This program is designed to engage with Regional Accountable Entity (RAE) members who opt-in to receive general health and wellness information from Colorado Access. Members who opt-in receive emails each month with helpful information about topics including flu shots, resources to quit smoking, breast cancer awareness, and understanding Health First Colorado benefits.
Coming Soon! A COPD Digital Engagement Initiative
As a new initiative, we are looking to develop a digital engagement COPD program for members. We plan to launch the program May 1, 2020. Focusing on the RAE population, specifically members age 21 and older, the program will address prevention of COPD as well as disease management. Please keep an eye out for more information as we continue to develop and rollout the program.
National Children’s Dental Health Month:
Encouraging Oral Health Care for Overall Health

DentaQuest is the administrator of the dental benefits for those with Health First Colorado (Colorado’s Medicaid Program) and Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+). Find out more about member dental benefits and the importance of oral care here:

Denver Health Medicaid Choice Update
Please note: As of January 1, 2020, the Department of Health Care Policy & Financing (HCPF) made changes to the way it contracts with Denver Health (Denver Health Medicaid Choice [DHMC]). Behavioral health claims for members of Denver Health Medicaid Choice should be submitted to Colorado Access for payment. Physical health claims should be submitted to Denver Health for processing.

You can verify if any of your patients are members of Denver Health Medicaid Choice by using the Health First Colorado Provider Web Portal here. More information on this change is attached here. If you have any questions, please contact your provider relations representative or email providerrelations@coaccess.com.

PROGRAM UPDATES

PCMP Value Based Payment Model
As a RAE, we have been directed by HCPF to work with network providers to develop a strategy to evolve administrative payments toward a more value-based payment model. We have worked closely with the governing councils in Region 3 and Region 5 to design a model that ties a greater proportion of the dollars to value, while also aligning with other HCPF alternative payment methodologies.  As a result, we are making changes to the way the administrative per-member-per-month (PMPM) payment is calculated for primary care medical providers (PCMPs) in Region 3 and Region 5, effective July 1, 2020.

This new PMPM model will incentivize you to invest in your practices in ways that best serve Colorado’s Medicaid members.  Look for more details about this new model in the April edition of the Navigator.
