As we head into March and reflect on a year since COVID-19 was first confirmed in Colorado, we continue to highlight COVID-19 information that may be of interest to you. Also, in this first edition of the Navigator in March, you’ll find information about free transportation to COVID-19 vaccine appointments for those with Health First
Colorado (Colorado’s Medicaid Program), the annual report from the Department of Health Care Policy & Financing (HCPF), and what to do if you’re having trouble revalidating with the State as a provider.
Be on the lookout later this month for the second edition of the March Navigator, where we’ll continue our deeper dive into social determinants of health, offer more COVID-19 resources, and highlight another provider partnership in the community.

Free Transportation for COVID-19 Vaccine Appointments
|
|
|
Those with Health First Colorado can get rides to and from COVID-19 vaccine appointments through HCPF’s Non-Emergent Medical Transport (NEMT) program. Schedule a ride here, or call IntelliRide directly at 855-489-4999 or
303-398-2155 (State Relay 711).

|
|
The HCPF 2019-2020 report demonstrates how $10.2 billion in funds were disbursed by the organization to cover 1.2 million Coloradans through Health First Colorado and 77,000 children and pregnant women with CHP+. Read the report here.

If you are contracted with Health First Colorado or CHP+, you must revalidate with HCPF at least every five years to continue as a provider. Organization health care providers are required to obtain and use a unique NPI for each service location and provider type enrolled. If you are having trouble getting revalidated, refer here

Colorado Access Provider Portal Updates: New Security Features
|
|
|
We are implementing two new security features in April: multi-factor authentication and a mandatory password reset every 90 days. With multi-factor authentication, the portal will require a second form of authentication to verify your identity. This can either be by email, text message or authenticator application. The portal will also require your password to be reset after 90 days. You can find more information throughout this month in the provider portal. Access it here.

The Colorado Access Population Health Programming Summary provides helpful information on each health program that is currently running, including programs that were recently added or enhanced. The summary describes each program’s method(s) of communication, target population, and objectives to help answer any frequently asked questions. Check out the summary here.

Upcoming COVID-19 Messaging
|
|
|
We are developing comprehensive messaging and resources to address vaccine hesitancy in our communities. Messaging and resources will be tailored to speak to members who are undecided about receiving the vaccine and will also be designed to help combat misinformation around the COVID-19 vaccine. Our plan is to implement these efforts in the early spring. Stay tuned for more details.

Opioid Crisis Recovery Funds Advisory Committee
|
|
|
The governor’s office is accepting applications for the Opioid Crisis Recovery Funds Advisory Committee. The committee will collaborate with and advise the attorney general on any funds received by the state as a result of opioid addiction related litigation or settlements. - Mental Health First Aid
This training is an evidence-based, public health training program that teaches participants the signs and symptoms of mental health challenges or crisis, what to do in an emergency, and where to turn for help. Mental Health First Aid Colorado is offering this training at no cost to participants. For more information and to sign up, click here.
- Raising Resilient Children in the Era of COVID-19
While experiencing a pandemic and the unknowns associated with COVID-19, it is important to increase a child's ability to manage unpredictability and inconsistency through positive interactions and strength based coping skills. This training is hosted by the Early Childhood Partnership of Adams County (ECPAC) and Denver’s Advocacy Center on Thursday, March 18th from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Find out more information and register here.
- Work & Play in a Pandemic: Ethics and Occupational Health Webinar Series
Moral Integrity and the COVID-Response Workforce: Innovations in Addressing Moral Distress, Injury and Resilience: Many workers are feeling tired, overworked, and overwhelmed during the pandemic. Some in health care, public health, emergency response and other sectors have also faced difficult moral dilemmas over the last year. The panel will discuss how to acknowledge the challenges and move forward, building a more resilient workforce in the wake of the pandemic.

offered by Colorado Academy of Family Physicians in collaboration with state lawmakers. This series is designed to support clinical providers who wish to improve care for transgender and gender non-binary patients. You will increase your knowledge and confidence in providing gender-affirming care including routine primary care, hormone therapy management, surgical options and supporting mental health. Colorado Access Provider Performance Scorecards
|
|
|
These scorecards highlight key areas of provider performance and are coming this month to the provider portal. Your scorecard will soon be available to review performance metrics for your specific location(s) and reflects the final weights used for your per-member-per-month payments thorough June 2021. The performance metrics included are: contract compliance, member engagement, utilization rate, and key performance indicators (KPIs). All components except for KPIs are updated each year at the beginning of the contract period. Review scorecard metrics regularly and work with our practice support team to
prioritize metrics for your site-specific improvement.

Patients may either be referred by their primary care medical provider (PCMP) or can self-refer. They also offer electrolysis treatment to transgender individuals prior to gender affirmation surgery. Updated Healthy Mom, Healthy Baby (HMHB) program
|
|
|
Our updated HMHB program launches this month and includes Interactive Voice Recognition (IVR) and SMS (text) tips for a healthy pregnancy and postpartum care. More issue-specific information will be given as needed to address individual care needs, barriers, or preferences.

COVID-19 Vaccine Rate Revision
|
|
|
HCPF recently announced a reimbursement rate increase for the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine for Child Health CHP+ members. This also applies to Health First Colorado members. All claims going back to November 20, 2020 will be processed at the new
rate of $19.27 for the first dose and $28.39 for the second dose. This is a 24% increase over our standard vaccine administration rates. For the fee schedule, click here.
