At Colorado Access, caring for you and your health is our top priority. This includes the health of our providers. With so much COVID-19 information out there, this weekly update serves as a highlight of information and resources you might have missed or might not be aware of.

  • Reminder: copays are waived for CHP+ HMO and CHP+ SMCN inpatient claims where the primary or secondary diagnosis code is U07.1 (confirmed COVID-19). This is effective April 1, 2020. Copays are also waived for testing of the COVID-19 virus for CHP+ HMO and CHP+ SMCN members. CMS has issued new Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) codes that can be used to bill certain COVID-19 diagnostic tests to help increase testing and track new cases.U0001 (CDC 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) real-Time PCR Diagnostic Panel) and U0002 (2019-nCoV Coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2/2019-nCoV (COVID-19), any technique, multiple types for Subtypes (includes all targets (non CDC) are available for providers to bill without a prior authorization or a copay to the member.

  • The CDC has released information about COVID-19 in Racial and Ethnic Minority Groups that may be of interest. You can read the information here.

  • Community Innovation Pool Program – now accepting applications through June 22nd at 8:00 AM! This new funding opportunity focuses on two areas: 

  1. Health Equity: To support innovative initiatives, programs and/or services that aim to address and lessen health inequities and health disparities which are being exacerbated by COVID-19.

  1. Telehealth: To support innovative member access to telehealth for their physical, social and emotional health and well-being. To expand provider capacity and capabilities to innovatively serve members through telehealth.

COVID-19 is a disrupter that itself is catalyzing innovation. The goal of this year’s awards will be to spur innovation that will help not only with the current COVID-19 pandemic, but also has the potential to have lasting benefits into the future.

We are looking for innovative solutions for Health First Colorado members in our regions (Adams, Arapahoe, Denver, Douglas and Elbert counties).
