JULY  2022
At Colorado Access, caring for you and your success is our top priority as you serve our members. With so much information out there, this monthly Provider Update serves as a highlight of important information and resources to help you as a contracted provider with Colorado Access.

In the past, we have sent out monthly Navigator newsletters in addition to our weekly COVID-19 update. We are excited to introduce a new format where we can share relevant information about not only COVID-19, but important Colorado Access information monthly, as a Provider Update.
  • Colorado Access Standards for Unlicensed Providers: We appreciate your interest in the updated unlicensed practitioner supervision policy that was recently shared by The Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF). We are currently working to finalize the implementation details of this updated policy, including any documentation requirements. We will share more information soon.

In the meantime, you can continue to operate under your current supervision model and practices. We implemented a procedure for organizational approval for unlicensed staff in March 2022, and communicated this information in our newsletter here. We will share any further requirements in upcoming Provider Updates or the Navigator. You are not required to take any action at this time. If you have any questions, please contact our team at providernetworkservices@coaccess.com.

  • Future planning: Plan accordingly for the ongoing Public Health Emergency (PHE) with information from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE).

  • Claim payments:
  1. All in-network providers can submit paper and electronic claims by fax, clearinghouses, and through our provider portal. If you have questions about submitting claims, please read section 6 of our provider manual.
  2. You must have enrollment and validation requirements completed to continue receiving claim payments when the PHE ends. Some enrollment requirements, including application fees, fingerprinting, and site visits may have been waived for the PHE, but may be required once it ends. Check your enrollment status and requirements with the provider services call center.

  • Member-focused initiatives from our health programs team:
  1. An immunization and well visit digital engagement program to help parents and guardians understand the importance of keeping up with routine vaccinations and well child visits. This program sends parents and guardians of members ages 0 to 17 text messages with information, resources, reminders, and suggested vaccine schedules.
  2. A diabetes landing page that has information on managing and testing for diabetes; how diabetes impacts heart health, oral health, and depression; and how to speak to doctors, medical staff, and care managers to help manage diabetes.
  3. Planning for the end of the PHE with member-focused initiatives, including an SMS texting program, a printed mailer, social media updates, and an email. To access PHE unwind resources for your practice, click here.

  • License requirements and updates: If you are a current Health First Colorado (Colorado’s Medicaid program) provider who is required to maintain a license as part of your enrollment, you will get a letter from the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF) when your primary license is near or at its expiration date. Your enrollment may be inactivated if your license, certification, or accreditation has expired or is subject to conditions or restrictions. Learn more here.

  • Gender-affirming health care: Although all major medical associations in the United States recognize that gender-affirming health care is essential and lifesaving, many practicing health professionals are not trained on how to practice it, but there are many ways they can provide it.

  • The National Primary Care Transformation Summit: Join Global Health Care, LLC for a virtual summit from Monday, July 25th through Friday, July 29th. Registration is free for many types of health care workers. Click here to learn more and register.

  • Resources for your LGBTQ+ patients: Here are some resources we often refer our LGBTQ+ members to:
  1. Services and programs at Mile High Behavioral Healthcare
  2. Gender-affirming care at Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains
  3. Primary care and health services at Denver Health
  4. Medicaid regulations and guidance for trans health care at Trans Health Project
  5. Gender-affirming clothing and products at Marsha’s Closet
